Southport is easy to get to whether you're travelling by road, rail, sea or air...
From the South, take the M6 to exit 26; the M58 will take you to Ormskirk and then take the A570 to Southpot. From the North, follow the A59 from Preston (exit 31rom the M6) and then follow the signs to Southport.
If you are going to Open Championship please follow the AA road signs.
Parking:
There is on-road pay and display parking around Southport as well as a number of off-road car parks. There are also two 'park and ride' car parks, one situated on The Esplanade by Splash World and one at Foul Lane off Kew roundabout (A570 from Ormskirk, opens November 2007). Beach parking is also available subject to tide times and heights.

Regular services to Southport operate throughout the year. A fast and frequent rail service runs between Liverpool City Centre and Southport, for timetable information please visit Merseytravel. Rail connections to Southport from Scotland, the North and the rest of the country are available via Manchester and Wigan stations. National Express coaches serve Southport from all major UK towns and cities.

By Air:

By Sea:
Daily sailings from Belfast, Dublin and the Isle of man to Liverpool are available as are sailings from Dun Laogshire to Holyhead.
Once you have arrived in Southport, it's easy to get around. There are a number of local taxi companies who can transport you door to door. There's also an efficent local bus service available.
If you fancy a guided bus tour of the resort, there's an excellent open-top sightseeing bus tour available, ever popular with visitors.
