Beautiful Beaches - The Southport and Seftons Natural Coast is renowned for its beautiful beaches. Southport, Formby, and Ainsdale are regularly awarded the ENCAMS Seaside Award Flags. The beaches must pass rigorous tests including the provision of first aid facilities, good access for mobility impaired people and ensure the sands have a high standard of cleanliness.
Southport beach is perfect for families. There is plenty of room for cars to park and the whole family can enjoy the panoramic views of the coastline, the Pier, Marine Drive, Marine Way Bridge and the visually dramatic Eco Visitor Centre at the Esplanade park & ride site.
Ainsdale Beach is one of the most popular on the coast and achieves the Seaside Award annually. It is the only beach in the North West to be awarded the international Blue Flag (in 2004 and 2006). Close by the excellent new Discovery Centre is ideal for youngsters (and mum and dad too!) to find out more about the local coastal flora and fauna.
Quite simply, Formby Point & Beach will take your breath away. The beach is ideal for romantic walks or for picnicking. The wonderful stretch of coast at Formby features a glorious beach with miles of walks through the pinewoods and dunes.
