Southport's scenic seafront is something to really write home about.
Southport's Promenade is internationally famous with a bronze statue of Queen Victoria surveying all that goes on beneath her. Walking up the Promenade, you can meander in and out of the beautiful King's Gardens, shortly arriving at Silcock's Funland, the family indoor leisure entertainment centre and one of Southport's oldest attractions. Just outside Funland is a spectacular Carousel - a must for youngsters and those young at heart.
Further along 'The Prom', as it is affectionately known, you will find the Marine Lake. Why not stop for a few minutes and take in the views over the water, watching the elegant Southport Belle Mississippi paddle steamer pass quietly by, or take to the water yourself on one of the many pleasure boats for hire.
The spectacular Marine Way Bridge which spans the Marine Lake only serves to confirm Southport's reputation as the 'Jewel of the North'. The Promenade is also home to the Southport Theatre and Floral Hall Complex. So if you want to take in a great show whilst you're in town, simply look no further.
Marine Drive is essentially the 'new' Promenade of Southport. Beautifully landscaped, it's ideal for taking a leisurely walk along, enjoying the views of the seafront and breathing in that fresh sea air. There are also some unusual pieces of public art to spot along the way.
In between Marine Drive and The Promenade, there's a whole host of attractions to enjoy, including go-karting, pitch & putt golf, crazy golf, flat & crown green bowls, the Lakeside Miniature Railway, Model Railway Village, and Ocean Plaza. You really will be spoilt for choice.
