Star performes in Southport were celebrated when more than 300 people arrived at the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre on Wednesday 14th May for the prestigious Southport Ambassador Awards for 2008. The awards ceremony aims to recognise and reward those in the tourism, hospitality, leisure and retail sectors who work hard to give exceptional service to the public.
The standard of nominations received this year was very high with more than 300 nominations forms received.
Guests were treated to a special 'Ambassador' cocktail, created for by Maloneys. Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton, Cllr Richard ands and Katy Hibbert and Lord and Lady Fearn were in the audience. During the evening, hosted by Debi Jones, the 2008 winners were announced for the first time.
Charlotte Carr from Southport College (winner of Apprentice/ Trainee / Student of the Year) and Neil Smith (Winner of Winners) both went forward to The Mersey Partnership Awards. Representing Southport, Charlotte Car won the Merseyside award.
Throughout the night, nearly £1,000 was raised for the Southport Offshore Rescue Appeal with a raffle.
